Later Christmas Day Evening

Dorothy arrived alone, but we soldiered on, and managed to make a fair job of the cooking. We started with tea, and carried on with gin and tonic. Here's the table before we destroyed it.

We decided to drink the red Astrales Ribera del Duero, a tempranillo, a good choice as it turned out to be the best red we have had for years. It had matured satisfactorily in my flat - it was a 2004 vintage. Very good with the chicken and even better with the Stilton. Dorothy had purchased some young Colston Bassett which was excellent. I should draw a curtain over the gluttony, really, suffice to say we had large quantities of Gelupo ice cream bombe to follow all this, and then coffee. We talked until late at night. I was sorry Julian wasn't here to see the decorations and enjoy the food, but hope will put in an appearance again soon.

I have to confess to watching East Enders in bed on the iplayer at about 1.30am, then of course, woke up at 5am to feed the monster. It is now Boxing Day, and Nibby rang me early to tell of her Christmas which was good fun with the grandchildren.
